Product training to be included in export: Mining Finland and Mobie join forces

Product training for export is the foundation on which Mining Finland and Mobie have built their collaboration: when Finnish mining technology is sold to international markets, the knowhow for using it should travel with it. Mining Finland is adopting Mobie Oy’s CompetenceX platform, which allows member companies to turn their own technology, product, and expert knowledge into sellable product training.

Product and know-how are exported together

In the international business of the mining industry, competition is no longer based solely on the characteristics of the equipment. The customer’s ability to effectively implement new technology, train its personnel and maintain competence has a decisive impact on whether the investment is successful.

With the help of CompetenceX, a Finnish equipment supplier, technology company or a company offering expert services can build a digital training package around their product, which can include, for example:

  • Product and user training
  • Safety and maintenance training
  • Process and technology training
  • Customer and dealer training
  • certifications and competence testing
  • expert courses and paid competence services

In this way, the customer is not only supplied with technology, but also with the know-how to use it efficiently and safely.

Product training for export enables a new kind of internationalisation

The basic mission of Mining Finland is to promote the internationalisation of Finnish mining companies and the export of their technologies, services and products. CompetenceX brings a new dimension to this: the export of product training.

Mining Finland’s member companies can start using CompetenceX with their own agreement to produce product training in their own specialist areas. At the same time, Mining Finland can be involved in building more extensive training packages that combine the expertise of several member companies to meet the needs of international customers.

“Mining Finland’s network has exceptionally strong technology and expert expertise. We want to help make this expertise even more visible and accessible to international customers. Digital training offers member companies a new tool for internationalising their own technology and services,” says Aleksi Salo, CEO of Mining Finland.

Why product training for export relies on artificial intelligence right now

CompetenceX utilizes artificial intelligence in the construction of training content. Product training can be built from the company’s existing materials, such as technical documents, instructions and presentations, much faster than in a traditional production process. This lowers the threshold for SMEs in particular to productise their own expertise for international use. Artificial intelligence can be used to the extent that it is needed. However, it is not mandatory.

“Finland has a huge amount of world-class industrial expertise, but not all of it has yet been productised into a form that can be sold internationally. The mining industry is an excellent example of this. When a device, technology or service can also be accompanied by high-quality product training, the customer’s expertise, the implementation of the product and the competitiveness of the Finnish company are strengthened at the same time,” says Jukka Sormunen, RDI Director at Mobie Oy.

Product training for export is a common goal of Mining Finland and Mobie: to build a model in which the export of technology, services and experts in the Finnish mining industry can be strengthened by combining products, technology and product training into one international entity.
